About 7 Scrolls
7 Scrolls is an independent, non-denominational website that helps people learn the Bible a few minutes a day: what is in it, where to find it, and how to remember it. Everything on the site is free to read, quotes public-domain translations and gives a reference for every claim about the text.
What 7 Scrolls is
Many people would like to know the Bible better but do not know where to start, or start and get lost. 7 Scrolls gives short, plain-English answers and a way to check what you remember:
- Summaries of all 66 books, with outlines, key verses and how long each takes to read.
- Profiles of people of the Bible and retellings of well-known Bible stories.
- Explanations of Bible verses and of key Bible words.
- Bible quizzes with an explanation and a reference for every answer.
- Free reading plans and guides to reading and studying the Bible.
What we believe about neutrality
7 Scrolls is not affiliated with any church, denomination or organisation. Our readers include Protestants, Catholics, Orthodox Christians and people who are simply curious. So we follow a few rules:
- Text first. We explain what the Bible says and where it says it, with a reference for every claim about the text.
- Show the main views. Where traditions read something differently (dates, authorship, how the Ten Commandments are numbered, how to read Revelation) we describe the main positions and say who holds them. We do not declare a winner.
- Knowledge, not piety. Quizzes test what you know about the Bible. We never rank anyone’s faith.
- Respect. We do not joke about God, Scripture or anyone’s beliefs.
Which Bible we quote
We quote the Berean Standard Bible (BSB) by default and sometimes the World English Bible (WEB). Both are in the public domain. Verse text on the site is generated directly from the published texts, never retyped by hand. Details are on our translations and sources page.
Who is behind 7 Scrolls
7 Scrolls is a small independent project. Our editorial team is being formed, and we are recruiting a panel of theological reviewers from different traditions. We will publish their names, roles and backgrounds here once they are confirmed. Until then, pages are signed by the 7 Scrolls Editorial Team and no page claims to have been reviewed by a named expert.
Drafts may be prepared with AI assistance and are then edited and checked; every verse reference is verified. Our editorial policy explains the process, including what happens when we get something wrong.
How 7 Scrolls is funded
7 Scrolls is currently free to use, carries no advertising and accepts no paid placements. There are no accounts and no paywall on any page. If this ever changes, we will say so on this page first.
