Privacy Policy
7 Scrolls collects very little. There are no accounts, no advertising and no selling of data. We use Google Analytics and PostHog (hosted in the EU) to count visits in aggregate, our host keeps standard security logs, and your reading-plan and quiz progress stays in your own browser.
Effective date: 16 October 2026.
Who is responsible
7 Scrolls (7scrolls.com) is responsible for the data described here. Contact: hello@7scrolls.com.
What we collect and why
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
Analytics (Google Analytics 4): pages viewed, approximate location (country/city), device and browser type, how you arrived. Uses the cookies _ga and _ga_<ID>. | To understand, in aggregate, which pages help people and what to improve. Legal basis: your consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland; legitimate interests elsewhere, with the option to opt out. | Google Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months; the cookies expire after up to 2 years. |
Analytics (PostHog, EU cloud in Frankfurt): pages viewed and clicks on buttons and links (without their text), page addresses without query strings, approximate location (country/city), device and browser type, how you arrived. No session recordings, no profiles. Uses the cookie ph_<ID>_posthog. | Same as above: to see, in aggregate, how the site is used. Same legal basis and the same consent choice as Google Analytics. | PostHog event data is kept for up to 12 months; the cookie expires after up to 1 year. |
| Server and security logs kept by our hosting provider, Cloudflare (IP address, time, page requested, browser). | To deliver the site, keep it secure and stop abuse. Legal basis: legitimate interests. | Short periods set by Cloudflare’s standard retention. |
| Emails you send us, including mistake reports and contact messages. | To reply and to fix what you report. Legal basis: legitimate interests. | Up to 2 years after the conversation ends, unless a correction needs to be documented longer. |
Quiz plays: when you play a quiz, the page sends a cookie-free technical event (time spent, number of answers and correct answers, device type, the site you came from, and country as seen by Cloudflare) so we can see that quizzes are used. It contains no IP address, no identifier that persists after you leave and no fingerprint, and it is deleted within a few hours. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
We do not use advertising cookies, we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or share personal data for advertising.
Cookies and your choice
The only cookies 7 Scrolls uses are the Google Analytics and PostHog cookies listed above. One choice covers both. We use Google Consent Mode, and advertising features are switched off for everyone.
- EEA, UK and Switzerland: analytics cookies are off by default. We ask first, with a small banner offering Accept or Decline. Until you accept, no analytics cookies are set. If our site cannot tell that you are in Europe, Google still treats visits from these countries as “not consented” based on the approximate location of your connection.
- Everywhere else (including the United States): analytics cookies are on by default, and you can turn them off at any time.
We remember your answer in your browser’s local storage (the entry sl-consent), not in a cookie. To change your choice, use Cookie settings in the footer of any page. If you decline, we stop analytics and delete the _ga and ph_ cookies that our site can reach.
Data that stays on your device
Reading-plan progress (which days you have ticked), your cookie choice and similar settings are stored in your browser’s local storage. They are never sent to us. You can delete them at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for 7scrolls.com.
Who processes data for us
- Google (Google Analytics), which may process data in the United States.
- PostHog (product analytics), with data stored in the European Union.
- Cloudflare (hosting, security and delivery of the site).
- Our email provider, for messages you send us.
Where data is transferred outside the UK or the European Economic Area, these providers rely on recognised safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
Your rights
EU and UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): you can ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, object to or restrict processing, and complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO).
US states (for example California, Colorado, Virginia): you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to delete it, and opt out of sale or targeted advertising. We do not sell personal data or use it for targeted advertising.
You can change your analytics choice under “Cookie settings” in the footer, block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google’s opt-out browser add-on. To make a request, email hello@7scrolls.com. We reply within 30 days.
Children
7 Scrolls is suitable for families, but it is not designed to collect information from children. Children should not send us personal information. If you believe a child has, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, for example by adding an email newsletter, we will update this page and its effective date first. See also our terms of use, our about page and how we work in our editorial policy.
