What does this quiz cover?

The questions follow Moses through the Book of Exodus in order. Exodus 2 covers his birth and rescue from the Nile. Exodus 3 and 4 cover the burning bush at Horeb and the call to go to Pharaoh, with Aaron as his spokesman. Exodus 7 to 12 cover the plagues and the first Passover. Exodus 14 covers the sea, and Exodus 19 to 32 cover Mount Sinai, the tablets and the golden calf.

If you would like a refresher first, the Moses profile gives the outline of his life, and the Exodus summary shows where each event sits in the book's 40 chapters.

How can I use it in a group or class?

Split the quiz into three rounds of four questions: Egypt and Midian, the plagues and the sea, then Sinai. After each round, read one key passage together, such as Exodus 3:1-6 for the bush or Exodus 14:21-22 for the sea, and let the group spot the details the questions asked about.

The questions about the plagues and the Passover are matter-of-fact and avoid frightening detail, so the quiz works for older children as well as adults.

What is a good study tip for the life of Moses?

Read Moses' story with a pencil and mark every time the text gives a number or an age: three months hidden, 80 years old before Pharaoh, three days of darkness, forty days on the mountain. Numbers like these are where most people slip in a quiz. For the giving of the law itself, the Ten Commandments story walks through Exodus 19 and 20.
