What does this Revelation quiz cover?
The quiz follows the book in three parts. Chapters 1 to 3 give the opening vision and the messages to the seven churches: what the seven lampstands stand for, which church is addressed first, what Smyrna is promised and why Laodicea is called lukewarm.
Chapters 5, 6 and 8 cover the scroll sealed with seven seals, who is said to be able to open it, and what happens as the seals are opened. The last questions come from chapters 21 and 22: the new heaven and new earth, the gates of the city, why there is no temple in it and the tree of life beside the river.
Does this quiz take a side on how to read Revelation?
No. Readers interpret Revelation in very different ways. Some read it mainly as a message to churches of the first century, others mainly as a description of events still to come, and others as a symbolic picture of the struggle between good and evil in every age. Many combine these approaches.
This quiz takes no side. Every question asks only what the text says, such as a number, a color, a name or a place, so a reader from any tradition can answer it honestly. If you want an outline of the 22 chapters and the main ways the book is read, see the Revelation summary.
What is a good study tip for Revelation?
Track the sevens. The book is built around groups of seven: churches, seals, trumpets and bowls. Make four short lists as you read and note the chapter where each group begins. It turns a long and vivid book into a structure you can follow, and it helps with several questions here.
In a group, read the seven messages in chapters 2 and 3 aloud first. They are short, they follow a similar pattern, and each one names a city, which makes them a natural starting point before the visions that follow. When you are done, try more Bible quizzes with answers.
