What does this New Testament quiz cover?
The questions follow the order of the New Testament itself. It opens in the Gospels with two scenes from the ministry of Jesus: four friends lowering a paralyzed man through a roof, and a conversation at Jacob's well. Most of the middle comes from Acts: the day of Pentecost, the seven men chosen to serve, the city where disciples were first called Christians, Peter at the gate, Paul in Athens and a young man asleep in a window.
The last part moves into the letters and Revelation. You will meet Priscilla and Aquila, Phoebe of Cenchrea, Luke the physician and Timothy's grandmother, and finish on the island where John received his vision. If you want a map of all 27 books before you start, browse the books of the Bible.
How can I use it in a group or class?
The quiz works well as a review after a study of Acts, because seven of the fifteen questions come from that book. Run it on one screen, let each person or team call out an answer, then read the verse aloud before moving on. The verse often adds a detail that the question leaves out, which gives the group something to talk about.
For a longer session, pair it with the life of Jesus quiz: that one stays in the Gospels, while this one spends most of its time after the resurrection. Together they cover the New Testament story from Galilee to the island of Patmos.
What is a good study tip for the New Testament?
Follow one person across several books. Paul is the clearest example: he appears as Saul in Acts 7 to 9, travels and writes through the rest of Acts, and his name opens thirteen letters. Reading the profile of Paul next to Acts helps the letters make sense, because you know where he was and who he was writing to. Several questions here turn on that kind of link between a place, a person and a letter, such as Priscilla and Aquila in Acts 18 and Luke in Colossians 4.
